Last week, MonAsia was honored to participate in The Economist’s Countdown to COP 29 event, which took place in Amsterdam, a city globally recognized for its forward-thinking approach to sustainability.

Our Executive Director, Anastasiia Lutcenko was invited to join a key panel discussion during the event, where she shared insights on how sustainable education and community empowerment can drive global change. Her participation highlighted MonAsia’s commitment to developing creative, actionable solutions for climate action, including our flagship project, the Blue Schools of Sustainability. This project offers experiential learning opportunities aboard eco-friendly sailing vessels, focusing on teaching marginalized communities about environmental conservation, renewable energy, and sustainable living.

The Blue Schools of Sustainability sparked great interest among the panelists and attendees alike. Designed to provide hands-on education for the next generation, these “floating classrooms” give young people from underrepresented communities the tools and knowledge to become leaders in sustainability. The initiative, developed in collaboration with the Fondation Prince Albert II of Monaco and MayBe Sailing, aligns closely with global efforts to enhance environmental literacy and promote sustainable development.

The Economist’s Countdown to COP 29 event was the ideal setting for this discussion. Held in Amsterdam, a city renowned for its green urban design, renewable energy innovations, and pioneering environmental policies, the event focused on accelerating the transition to a sustainable future. The panel in which Anastasiia participated explored topics such as corporate sustainability, education for climate action, and the role of innovation in achieving climate goals.

MonAsia’s participation in this influential event underscored our belief that sustainable development requires collaboration, education, and forward-thinking solutions. As Amsterdam continues to lead by example in the fight against climate change, we look forward to building on the conversations from this event and taking bold steps toward COP 29 and beyond.

We are excited about the opportunities ahead as we continue to grow our Blue Schools initiative and work with international partners to promote sustainability at every level of society.
