The Prince's government presented its strategic digital agenda last year, with the aim of building a “smart Principality”. This ambitious digital transformation plan was named “Extended Monaco”. Extended Monaco aims to use digital technology in the Principality to serve the quality of life (mobility, smart city, e-health), offer a new cycle of economic prosperity and increase the value of the public service (total dematerialization of administrative procedures on the horizon 2022). H.S.H. Prince Albert II estimated that "Monaco in a digital world is a country which makes its size a strength, an asset to make our economic and social model even more efficient, more sustainable and more human". To which Frédéric Genta, Interministerial Delegate in charge of the Digital Transition, added: “Extended Monaco is the basis of our future growth. Growth that needs foundations: 5G, the Sovereign Cloud, optical fiber… ”. In 2019, Monaco was the first country in the world to be 100% covered by a 5G network and marketed. Other countries like South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom and Spain have deployed it in some pilot cities only. Since July 9, 2019, Monegasques, individuals and businesses, can access the new 5G technology which offers new opportunities to facilitate the daily life of those who live, work or visit the Principality. With the deployment of 5G, the Prince's Government has erected its first pillar of the Extended Monaco program. The plan, which aims to bring Monaco into the digital age, continues with the launch in 2021 of its sovereign cloud - a kind of state's digital safe, in partnership with Amazon Web Services, announced the Prince Albert II yesterday. Thus, according to the government, Monaco would be "the first country in Europe to launch its sovereign cloud". The sovereign cloud will be the basis of digital development, in which Monaco intends to become a leading player, particularly in the development of artificial intelligence. “This cloud will offer the best tools, the best software. When artificial intelligence becomes central in the digital economy, we can benefit from it, ”said Frédéric Genta. The action plan foresee, after the opening of a sovereign cloud, the launch of blockchain, remote monitoring, and the use of artificial intelligence. The Principality hopes to attract new businesses and activities by focusing on the development of new technologies, such as blockchain, or the establishment of innovative means of financing. The Monegasque state aims, for example, to become the world leader in environmental ICOs (Initial Coin Offering, fundraising in the form of crypto-currencies). __________________________________________________ Sources: https://www.monacomatin.mc/technologie/monaco-sera-le-premier-pays-a-lancer-son-cloud-souverain-569498 https://theworldnews.net/mc-news/monaco-sera-le-premier-pays-a-lancer-son-cloud-souverain https://extendedmonaco.com/ project/la-resilience-numerique-une-necessite-dans-le-monde-dapres/ https://extendedmonaco.com/ project/la-principaute-de-monaco-le-1er-pays-mondial-100-couvert-par-un-reseau-5g-operationnel/ https://tribuca.net/collectivites_47306973-avec-extended-monaco-la-principaute-devoile-son-ambitieux-plan-de-transformation-digitale https://www.monacohebdo.mc/politique/e-sante%E2%80%89-vers-cloud-souverain/#:~:text=Le%206%20novembre%2C%20le%20gouvernement,politique%20d’e%2Dsant%C3%A9.&text=En%202019%2C%20lancement%20d’un,utilisation%20de%20l’intelligence%20artificielle.
