Green Shift for Bitcoin with Nuclear Power Deal
Power startup Oklo Inc. said it’s partnering with Bitcoin mining and hosting firm Compass Mining to introduce advanced fission to the energy-intensive process of minting new coins. It’s an effort, the companies say, to reduce fossil-fuel emissions from Bitcoin mining and to diversify energy sources used by the miners, who compete to verify transactions in exchange for new coins.
“We are focused on minimising the impact on the environment while driving a new clean energy future in our local Ohio economy,” said Energy Harbor president and chief executive officer, John Judge.
“This is another example of the value we provide to our customers and communities as we continue our growth strategy across all sales channels within our retail business.”
