The MonAsia association allows Monegasques and Asian people to meet and learn about their respective countries and cultures through, among other things, cultural events.
Thus, following an encounter in Saint Paul de Vence last year, where the President of MonAsia Mikhail Nefedov met Jeremy Kleinberg, the latter was our guest of honour for an exchange rich in emotions followed by a reception organised by our association. We learned that the artist paints by feeling, his works of art are results of a direct expression of the moment.
Jeremy Kleinberg is an astonishing self-taught artist, he began painting at the age of 16 and developed a rather tormented figurative painting that was mainly human-oriented. Working mainly with live models, he considers each canvas as the meeting between two tones and lets the exchange and the context determine the approach. The gesture is instinctual, instinctive, almost abstract and yet after a few brushstrokes the form appears. Jeremy looks at the human, in its fragility, its strength, its sensuality... He strives to paint a feeling, the form is the consequence.
Kleinberg's paintings are all improvisations - meaning that they are done with no sketch, outline, and sometimes even no image in mind. The artist allows his intuition to lead his gestures. The final result is an expression of the atmosphere, where anything could become a parameter of the execution. Global sensation and emotion guide the process. Context and surrounding do not simply influence the piece, they are the soul of it.
In fact, Mikhail Nefedov, enchanted by Kleinberg's unique technique, has purchased a painting of Winston Churchill, the famous personality he adores, to install it in his cigar cellar. A perfect match.
